Alan Partridge profoundly stated “people forget that on the Titanic’s maiden voyage there were over 1000 miles of uneventful, very pleasurable cruising before it hit the iceberg! Now with all their, Alan Partridge references Revenge of The Psychotronic Man have hit their own musical Iceberg after 14 eventful years. To mark such an occasion they have put together a comprehensive history with one final release “That Was Just A Noise”, the album, which features tracks from their 3 hugely acclaimed TNS released albums; Make Pigs Smoke (2009), Shattered Dreams Parkway (2012) and Colossal Velocity (2016) alongside rare, out of press tracks from 7”s, splits and EPs and two brand new, previously unreleased tunes, will be out in June.
The band have described their last 2018 tour dates as “They will be our tightest and most passionate performances ever, they simply must be. We will then wrap it all up with a final Manchester gig in December”, which looks like a finale not to be missed.
The opening dulcet tones of “Get Pissed, Talk Shit, Dance Like An Idiot”seems to be fitting words for a band not averse to cranking up the speed, but always finding a melody hidden in the cracks of the noise. The at times manic lyrical delivery, seen with tracks like “Rrose Sélavy” and “Booze Time” where projectile vocals made audience singalong participation almost impossible, in contrast ” The Queen Is Dead, Long Live The King Singers” shows the bands versatility in creating something slightly more softer on the ear but still an aural assault on your senses.
Revenge of The Psychotronic Man are going out with a bang this year, one that would rival Alan Partridge trashing his hotel room and telling the BBC to Fuck Off with their offer of a new series! Get out to see them one last time!!!
